Now for the boring bit. Over the years we have been asked many questions and decided it is best if we put them down on paper. Remember, if you have a question, please give us a shout and we can try and answer it for you.
The catalogue page covers a small selection of the leisure wear that we can supply. If you do not see what you are looking for, please ask as there is always a way to source what you are looking for.
Remember we can supply branded names such as Henry Lloyd, Musto, Gill, Slam too, just ask.
Sizes & Samples
Once you have chosen your items, please check the sizes you need. Each item has a description and size information.
The inches chest sizes are ‘to fit’ so if you were to measure around your chest as a 40” you need to order the size that relates to it, this is not the actual garment measurement.
If you are unsure, it’s best to ask or order a sample for sizing.
Can I order a Sample?
You can order samples to try for size & quality. You will need to call or email to arrange this.
Carriage is charged for this service @ £4.95. Credit or Debit card details will need to taken and are kept on file. Samples need to be returned in perfect condition with all labels and packaging or the item will be charged at full price.
The customer is responsible for the cost of returning the samples back to The Thread Studio. Large more expensive items may be charged in full and a refund issued on return.
What if my garments don’t’ fit?
Each product in the catalogue comes with a sizes guide, the sizes are usually in inches and relate to S,M,L,XL etc...
Please check carefully that you order correct as The Thread Studio does not accept liability for the goods that do not fit and cannot be returned once they have been personalised. Please ask if you are unsure.
What is The Thread Studios min order value?
TTS have a min order charge of £35. Please remember that even the smallest of orders takes time to process.
This amount usually cover 2/3 branded T-shirts/ Polo Shirt or 5/6 items if garments are supplied for a chest logo to be added. Carriage is charge extra depending on the value of the order.
How do I pay for my order?
TTS prefers all payments to be made via bank transfer BACS payments on pro forma invoice when the order is confirmed.
All payments must be received before orders are dispatched. Payment details are on the bottom of all quotes and invoices. Card payments are accepted via Barclays ‘pingit’ system or via paypal.
Some customers even pay in cash!! But no cheques please.
Can I supply my own Clothing?
TTS do brand customer supplied clothing – please ask for a quote as this is very dependent on what the garments are and the branding needed. They are often charges at a higher rate due to the risk taken on by TTS.
I already have an Embroidery file, can you use it?
Yes, as long as it is an EMB or DST format, it is often best to email over a photo of it on a garment to help match up the colours if you cannot supply the thread ref and the running sheet for the machine file. We will always run out a sample and email it to you before production.
What can be printed? Embroidered?
Branding can be mixed and matched on different items. (Embroidered chest logo with large text logo on the back of a polo).
Below is a list of different items and the different method of branding that can be used.

How long will my order take?
Lead time for embroidery digitizing/set up is 2-4 working days. Once order and artwork have been signed off, completed is usually 10 – 14 days.
If you have a shorter deadline, please let us know asap and we will do all we can to meet it. We have been known to turn jobs around the same day, but please remember summer is our busiest time
Logo Design and visuals
What format do you need my logo to be?
We accept artwork in the following format:
Vector (.cdr, .ai, .eps, .pdf ) this is the preferred format . Please see ref in Screen Printing page
Jpeg (.jpg) min resolution is 300dpi or higher for transfer printing
Website artwork is too low resolution to work with. Or you can send printed artwork such as a letterhead or business card which we can scan or send it on CD. If art working is needed for your logo to be vectorised or you need a new logo designed, we can offer this service at an extra charge.
To produce designs for Vinyl and Screen printing, the artwork will need to be vectored and not any other format.
Can you match Pantone colours?
We can match as close as possible in both Embroidery threads and printing Inks.
With cut vinyl’s we are limited to set colour pallet. Please ask and we can email a colour swatch
Can I see what my logo will look like on the clothing?
All orders (except for repeats) will have pdf visual emailed with the order showing the logo and the placement on the garment. This is for approx placement and guide lines only. Due to the nature of the branding, the clothing will often dictate where the logos can go, especially on jackets where seams and pockets get in the way. For the basic kit such as polo shirts and sweatshirt this is not a problem. Over the years this method of proofing has helped orders run smoothly as customers can see the outcome.
All new embroidery files are sampled onto fabric and a photo is sent via email for confirmation, we are happy to make any adjustments, just let us know.
Screen Printing & Vinyl cut branding is all proofed via a visual. Due to the cost involved in producing screen, it is not viable to create the screen and print a sample. Sizes of logos will all be confirmed on the visual along with colour references.
